Welcome to 2020, season 3.

COVID-19 is back in a new avatar. In New Jersey, the seven-day average for confirmed positive tests is 2,184 to date, up 8% from the last week of December 2022 and up 22% from the month of December as a whole. The seven-day total for Jan. 9, 2022 was more than 27,000 confirmed positive tests.

Starting with January, sports car enthusiasts will be surprised to know that Jan. 17 marked the 70th anniversary of Chevrolet displaying its first Corvette sports car in New York City. On Jan. 22, Lunar New Year was observed. 2023 is the year of the rabbit, one of the luckiest of the twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac, and is expected to bring hope and calm.

The same date marked the 50th anniversary of the United States Supreme Court’s passing of Roe v. Wade, which secured the right to an abortion until recently.

On Feb. 12, Rihanna will headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. Feb. 10-15 will be New York Fashion Week, while London, not to be outdone, will host its own fashion week from Feb. 17-21. Marvel fans will anticipate the release of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” starring Paul Rudd, on Feb. 17.

March will bring the celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, as well as album releases from Lana Del Rey and Miley Cyrus on March 10. The 95th Academy Awards will be conducted on March 12. The film “John Wick: Chapter 4,” starring the one and only Keanu Reeves, will be released on March 24.

April will be all about Warner Bros’ 100th anniversary. On April 7, Nintendo fans will watch the big-screen adaptation of the iconic character Mario, starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor Joy, and Jack Black. This month will witness this year’s first solar eclipse on April 20 and will also get the Lyrids Meteor shower on April 22.

Moving onto May, Taylor Swift will stop in New Jersey as a part of the The Eras Tour. The United Kingdom will celebrate the coronation of Charles III and Camilla in Westminster Abbey in London on May 6. This will also be a movie-centric month, including the releases of “Fast X” and the live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.”

June will mark the 1700th death anniversary of Alexander the Great. It will be filled with games for sports enthusiasts, starting with the NBA finals on June 1. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League final will be on June 10, and the UEFA Nations League will be played from June 15-18.

In June, films including “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “The Flash,” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will also hit theaters. Fans will be on their toes to see what the legendary Harrison Ford has stored for this sequel to the “Indiana Jones” series.

Next up is July, or Wimbledon month, which will feature matches held from July 3-16, as well as the FIFA Women’s World Cup from July 10 to Aug. 20 in Australia and New Zealand. July will also bring anticipated films such as “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,” “Oppenheimer,” and “The Marvels.” You will have to brace yourselves for many fun memes and trends when the live-action “Barbie” will be released during this month.
