On September 10th, NJIT Police Department (NJIT PD) was proud to kick off the 2013 Fall semester with a Meet and Greet of the department on the Campus Center Green. Student Senate, Campus Center, HERO Campaign, Resident Hall Association and the NJIT PD collaborated on an event which featured food, games and a police officer topic bingo game which concluded with great prizes.
The NJIT Police Department introduced some new faces of their Community Police Unit, lead by newly appointed Acting Chief of Police Joseph Marswillo. Chief Marswillo was happy to converse with the over one thousand students who attended the event. Students were able to enjoy non-stop food during the three-hour event, provided by Gourmet Dining Services and served by the officers.
Community Police Unit Sergeant Eric DiFrancesco stated, “The NJIT Police Department hopes the enthusiasm of the event helps the student’s transition back to college life.” This event was a positive way to start the academic year and become reacquainted with the Community Police staff. NJIT PD uses social media to send out parking, traffic, event and service information to the NJIT community.
