Plan ahead! As tests and midterms approach, you should be aware of how much time you will need to review lecture notes, what materials the test will cover, and the format of your exams.

Use calendar applications that are on your computer, tablet, or phone. This is a great way to stay organized as well as plan in advance. Most technology devices have features that send alerts to remind you of upcoming events in advance, which can make them more effective than paper planners.

Communicate with your professors. Feel free to ask your professor(s) about the content of your exams. Don’t be afraid to ask for additional help to gain understanding regarding difficult concepts or problems.

Enhance your study skills by forming study groups or finding a partner with whom to share information and to effectively review materials. In addition, seek assistance from a teaching assistant or a tutoring service such as NJIT’s Center of Academic and Personal Enrichment (CAPE).

Maintain a positive attitude. Believe that you will successfully complete the examination. Reflect upon your goals and think about how much effort you put into preparing for your final exams.
