Track & Field Competes at Moonlight at the MAC

The NJIT men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at Moonlight at the MAC hosted by Monmouth on Wednesday evening.

Highlander Freshman, Kelli Hesse. earned a second-place finish in the women’s 500 meter run with a time of 1:22.18.

NJIT’s Alexis Caufield, Esther Alfaro and Alison Schroeder finished in the top 11 of the women’s 60 meter dash.  Caufield led the Highlanders with a seventh place finish, followed by Alfaro at ninth and Schroeder in 11th.  Alfaro earned a sixth-place finish in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.35, as Schroeder placed seventh in the women’s long jump with a distance of 4.88m (16-00.25).

Alexandra Arnold placed eighth in the women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.70, while teammate Maryam Haque placed fifth in the women’s 3000 meter run clocking in at 11:42.66.  Breanna Gunnarson notched a new NJIT school record in the women’s weight throw with a distance of 11.15m (37.03-75).

Highlanders Norman Hamilton and Timothy Daudelin, competed in the men’s 200 meter dash and finished in 13th and 16th place respectively, while also earning a fifth and seventh place in the men’s 500 meter dash

In the men’s mile run, Gursimran Singh took eighth and Louis Scheideler finished 10th, in while Arthur Smith and Michael Martins finished in fifth and seventh in the men’s 3000 meter run for the Highlanders.

Three Highlanders competed in the men’s triple and long jump Wednesday.  In the long jump, Emmanuel Agyen picked up a fifth place finish with a distance of 6.18m (20-03.50) setting a new NJIT record previously held by teammate John Porteous, Kwadwo Banahene seventh at 6.17m (20-03.00) and Royce DeLeon ninth in the with a distance of 6.03m (19-02.00).   In the triple jump, Banahene led the trio with a distance of 13.09m (42-07.50), good for sixth, Josh Ugwuneri seventh at 12.70m (42-04.75) and Royce with a distance of 13.00m (41-00.50).

Trentino Pezzano set the freshman weight throw record with a distance of 9.87m (34.08-50).
