Time spent in Senate: 3 years

Goals/Ideas:

Increase transparency between the students and administration.

Increase transparency between students and the Student Senate. Working for the students and increasing awareness of how your money is spent.

Develop a way to fund competitive clubs recognized by Student Senate.

Change the funding policy for religious organizations on campus.

Rework the General University Requirements (GURs) to address the concerns of the students.

Why I ran: I have always had a drive to help people dating back to my childhood. I have never stopped trying to get involved in the community and Student Senate has been my outlet to accomplish during college.

Position: V.P. of Administration

Name: Chirag Arya

Major: History

Time spent in Senate: 1 year

Goals/Ideas:

Increase senator success in all aspects.

Create another feedback fair with a higher attendance rate.

Head the Constitution Committee effectively to help streamline the process of creating new clubs.

Why I ran: I strongly believe that the Senate should be held to a higher standard and my plan as VPA will try to address this issue through one on one mentoring and a more personalized yet structured format.

Goals/Ideas:

Make the finance aspect of Senate more transparent. Allowing the students to know what each club is being funded for and how much.

Creating a stronger connection between the clubs and Student Senate.

To make better use of my committee and the Student Senate Treasurer.

Ensure proper funding in clubs and organizations.

Why I ran: As VPF this past semester I have learned a lot about the position and all it entails. I have made great connections with both faculty and my constituency. Thank you for re-electing me (Mansi) to handle your mon(s)ey.

Goals/Ideas:

Implement and improve the weekly Public Office hours so that students can give feedback on a variety of important issues.

Transparency by publicizing Senate work and accomplishments to the student body.

Why I ran: I wanted to be your VPSA because this position would allow me to use leadership and other skills I’ve gained from Senate to work on the issues that matter most to my fellow students. My job first and foremost will be to listen to what you have to say, so that I can be your voice when it matters most.

Major: Web and Information System

Time spent in Senate: 1 year

Goals/Ideas:

Bringing the campus life together by diversifying the events and getting input from the student body to see what interests them.

I will work to ensure that the student body knows what events are coming up and use the help of the PR committee to try different ways to get to the students.

Will work to allow everybody to get their money back correctly and promptly.

Why I ran: I want to become Treasurer because I have a vision of bringing everyone within NJIT together. I want to connect groups from different cultures and help them break the ice through Senate events. Ever since my freshman year I wanted this campus to be one big family and I will work tirelessly to achieve that.

Position: Recording Secretary

Name: Harshit Ratanpara

Major: Chemical Engineering

Time spent in Senate: 1 year

Goals/Ideas:

Better utilize the power of the Student Senate to reach and positively impact as many people as possible.

I will work to ensure that all organizations in need of Senate equipment receive them promptly and all copy requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.

I plan on recording all of the information that is mentioned at Senate meetings and the work done by the Student Senate to not only convey the information to faculty, but also to display it to the general student population.

Why I ran: I have worked closely with the previous Recording Secretary and I plan on continuing the work he has started, which was to make Senate as useful to the student body as possible.

Name: Julia Sun

Major: Business and Information Systems

Time spent in Senate: 1 year

Goals/Ideas:

Increase involvement with the NJIT community through more frequent and diverse advertising.

Strengthen relationship between NJIT Student Senate and the student body through outreach events.

Improve the presence of Public Relations Committee on Student Senate though clearer task delegation and accountability.

Why I ran: I want to raise awareness of all the great events that Senate holds, the resources we can provide, and the immense care we put in to address any and all concerns that exist.
