Bartender’s Delight: Tequila Sunrise

I refuse to admit summer is over. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts need to turn down their obsession with Pumpkin Spice whatevers. Because seriously, September is way too early for that sort of tomfoolery. It is for that reason why I chose a summer drink:

Tequila Sunrise

What’s in it?

  • 2 parts tequila
  • 4 parts orange juice
  • 1/2 part grenadine

What to do:

  1. Fill your cup with ice to your liking
  2. Add the tequila and orange juice
  3. Stir
  4. Slowly add the grenadine around the inside edge of the glass

If you want to add a decoration to complete the look, either an orange slice or a cherry will suffice. Many are unware that this is a simplified version of the original Tequila Sunrise. The original recipe calls for tequila, lime juice, club soda, and crème de cassis. The garnishing options are pretty much the same, instead switch the orange slice out for a lime wheel and you’re a go.

For those who are under 21 years old or those who simply prefer not to drink, there is a non-alcoholic version of this drink! The measurements for the orange juice and grenadine remain the same. Simply, do not put in the tequila and you have yourself a Virgin Sunrise! Hope you guys enjoy! I am always open to suggestions. Till then, check back next week for a new drink.
