From a New Perspective

From+a+New+Perspective

The Delta Phi Epsilon is one of two national sororities on the NJIT campus. At the heart of Delta Phi Epsilon is service. Delta Phi Epsilon supports and raises money for three international philanthropies: The Delta Phi Epsilon Education Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD). The Delta Phi Epsilon Education Foundation ensures that women contribute to their community. The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders is committed to preventing eating disorders by providing many programs, because ANAD believes that early detection of eating disorders save lives. DPhiE usually holds an ANAD dinner during the spring semester. Our philanthropic efforts include bake sales canning, Deepher Dude, Cystic Fibrosis Stair Climb or any other events which collect money. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is focused on finding a cure for the disease. To raise money, the sisters at NJIT continued the Delta Phi Epsilon tradition of Deepher Dude, which was last Thursday, October 24th. Contestants were dressed as their favorite superheroes and answered questions about our sorority. The winner was Darian from Alpha Phi Omega. Since 1967, Delta Phi Epsilon has contributed more than $1 million to research for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.

On September 25th, 2013, Delta Phi Epsilon received 5 new members to the sorority: Rajasi Deshpande, Vivian Salib, Mishal Kahn, Juanita Vargas, and Yohana Garcia. We are all of diverse majors and interests, yet we come together for a common cause through the sisterhood of Delta Phi Epsilon. As new members, we enjoy helping the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority to raise money for our philanthropic partners. We are also getting to know a great group of girls who love and support each other. We get to learn about the sorority, its values, and traditions. Throughout our college career, we will receive guidance from the sisters and gain new friendship, sisterhood and personal advancement. The new member process has been a lot of hard work, but it has also been fun and worthwhile. We’ve formed new connections and bonds to a group of smart and strong young women, who are teaching us so much every day. They encourage us to be ourselves and work hard in everything we attempt. It is amazing being a part of this sorority and seeing how much work these girls put into all of their events. Delta Phi Epsilon is inspiring and we are proud to be new members.
