Sigma Pi: The ACE Project

Deepika Misra

The ACE Project, which stands for Altruistic Campus Experience, is all about giving back to the university: its students, faculty and staff.  Sigma Pi’s ACE Project is the only Philanthropy that gives back to the University for supporting Sigma Pi in their quest for excellence.

The Altruistic Campus Experience is an event that all Sigma Pi chapters across the country participate in. Aside from giving back to their respective universities, ACE also it helps to raise money for certain charities such as the Sean Vernon Feliciano Amazing Day Foundation.

Some of the events included in ACE week include a PB&J handout, a dinner for NJIT’s Public Safety officers, a cleanup of MLK Jr. Blvd., and Sigma Pi’s ACE week dinner, which the brothers sold tickets to. In the end, this week was about giving back to NJIT and as a whole and this was one of their most successful ACE weeks yet.

The dinner held on Thursday April 4th, 2013 was very successful. There was a turnout of about 110 people, which included Sigma Pi member, family, friends, and NJIT students and faculty.  Other Greeks present were Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, and Kappa Xi Kappa Fraternity.

Their dinner was so successful was because of the combined effort of all the members of Sigma Pi Alpha-Mu Chapter.  Without the dedication of each and every one of their members, this event would not have been nearly as successful as it was.  At the dinner, they offered cash prizes, which were $75, $150, and $300. One winner was in the audience, while the other two were contacted by phone and were excited about the news they received. This event was organized by one of their younger brothers, Matthew Hoyos.
