Mr.Nobody (Movie)

Mr.Nobody is nothing short of a masterpiece. The arthouse French romantic Sci-Fi movie (all of the characters speak English throughout) explores the nature of choice in our lives.

The film alternates between the perspectives of the main character at 118, 34, 15, and 9. Everything from the soundtrack, comprised of acoustic guitar, to the set dressing, which features different recurring colors for different choices, blends together amazingly. It definitely requires a very careful and philosophical mindset to keep track of the movie, which swaps from one narrative to the other with the blink of an eye and a quick camera pan, but in the end everything is wrapped up neatly and discretely.

Mr.Nobody is available on Netflix, Youtube, and Amazon Instant Video

Chasing Amy (Movie)

Romantic Movie isn’t the first thought that comes to mind when talking about Kevin Smith’s film work. Chasing Amy is definitely not an exemplary romance movie, but it is one of Kevin Smith’s greatest creations and an all-around pleasure to watch.

Chasing Amy isn’t about a couple that falls in love, faces a few trials, and then gets a happily ever after once the protagonist makes some sort of big romantic gesture. Instead Chasing Amy is about a man who meets a woman more experienced than him, and how he deals with it. It’s got Smith’s mark on it, with tons of casual and usually dirty conversation, and the obligatory insane sexual scenario.

Chasing Amy is available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube VOD

The Graduate (Movie)

The Graduate is an amazing movie with an amazing soundtrack. Made in 1967, The Graduate was one of the first films placed on the National Film Registry’s list of culturally significant movies, and is also one of the highest grossing movies in American history. Many people still know the movie through its famous song “Mrs.Robinson” by Simon & Garfunkel, the duet that composed the entire “The Graduate” soundtrack.

The Graduate isn’t so much Romance as it is drama, as it focuses on a recent college Graduate who is seduced by his married neighbor. The affair plays out through the course of the movie, and grows more complicated with the introduction of the neighbor’s family.

The Graduate is available on Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Youtube
