Welcome to another ARTicle! We’re interviewing the Featured Artist of the Week, one of Student Art Society’s Executive Board members, our Social Media Manager.
ArtBoss: What’s your name?
Artist: Donnie Ray Damon, Jr.
ArtBoss: What major did you choose; what year are you in?
Donnie: My major is Computer Science. I’m a Junior.
ArtBoss: What’s your favorite color?
Donnie: Blue.
ArtBoss: One of my top 3 favorite colors! What’s your favorite animal?
Donnie: Red Panda.
ArtBoss: That’s different. I typically prefer the classic black and white panda over their red counterpart. On another note, where do you draw your art inspiration from?
Donnie: I aspire to make myself better as an artist so (narcissistically) I inspire myself.
ArtBoss: With an imagination like yours, at least you’ll always have lots of inspiration! What are your favorite subjects for your art?
Donnie: Video Games!
ArtBoss: What’s your favorite art medium? Also, where do you usually prefer to work on art?
Donnie: Pencil and Sharpie…in my room.
ArtBoss: Do you have a favorite art piece?
Donnie: “Aqua Teen Triptych”.
ArtBoss: That’s a pretty strange combo. So, who’s your favorite artist?
Donnie: Lawrence Yang.
ArtBoss: Hmm, I don’t think I’ve heard of him. You should show us what type of work he does when you’re in the Art Room again! Moving along, what’s your favorite day of the week?
Donnie: Wednesday!
ArtBoss: Good ol’ middle of the week…and what other hobbies do you have besides drawing?
Donnie: Gaming and Music.
ArtBoss: That’s a standard here… there’s something very relaxing about listening to music and playing video games. If you’re into Game Design, then you’re finding the right music for the videogames you’re creating. On another note, what’s the best thing about being part of SAS?
Donnie: The best thing about SAS is being able to see different works and converse with other artists on different styles and pieces.
ArtBoss: One last question – how did you feel about being chosen as our Featured Artist?
Donnie: I feel amazingly blessed to be considered for something like this. I can only get better and strive to become a better artist from this experience.
ArtBoss: On behalf of the Student Art Society, we appreciate you for being our Featured Artist of the Week. Thank you for helping keep art alive at NJIT with us! We look forward to seeing you and your artwork at our future SAS events!
Donnie: Thanks!
ArtBoss: You’re welcome! Readers, keep your eyes peeled for another Featured Artist of the Week in next week’s ARTicle!
