NJIT Friends of Medecins Sans Frontieres (Friends of MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is a student chapter of the humanitarian NGO, which is a nonprofit organization operating independently from the government. They work to promote awareness about MSF’s activities across the globe. Third-year Biology major and the Friends of MSF President Omar Al-Zaman stresses that this club is for those who want to pursue a career in medical service in resource-limited environments. While they are working to become a Senate-approved organization, Friends of MSF conduct meetings virtually, which are announced through their social media and e-mailing list. Moving forward, they are working to invite doctors in the field of MSF for virtual speaker events. The organization’s goal is to develop more globally aware citizens and teach others how to use their education and skills to serve others.
