New Years is always an exciting time; there’s the ball dropping in New York, the lights and fireworks of countries like Dubai and Australia, and just the multitudes of social gatherings and parties.
The New Year also marks the beginning of a new chapter in technology. It brings forth intriguing questions such as: what will this year bring? How futuristic are we going to get? Is this the year of time travel? In response to these thoughts, towards the beginning of January, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) takes place.
This year the show was held between January 6th and January 9th. At CES, companies usually showcase projects in development or demonstrate finished products with an impending release date. As always, there were a lot of amazing products that seem very appealing to the eyes of an everyday consumer. Here are some of the best.
The Bragi Dash:
The Bragi Dash is an eye-catching new device unveiled at CES. This small device serves as Bluetooth headphones, a standalone MP3 player, and a fitness tracker. It has a built in heart rate monitor, touchpads on both earpieces, and sports a very flashy yet simplistic design. These headphones are definitely something to look out for.
Mercedes F 015:
Mercedes-Benz announced the concept of a futuristic car that is still years away from release. The car includes fully autonomous driving capabilities; headlights that project a crosswalk for pedestrians that are attempting to walk in front of the car; windows with displays controllable with motion gestures given by the passengers; seats that spin around so that the driver can face passengers; and a completely redesigned automobile cabin that is unlike anything seen before. This car seems truly innovative and could be the future of the automobile industry.
Energous WattUp:
The Energous WattUp allows you to charge devices from up to 15 feet away, wirelessly. Imagine a world where you don’t have to plug in your phone to charge; that could be coming sooner than you would think. While the product still needs work, but the company is hopeful of a late 2015 release.
LG EG9900 4K OLED TV
LG’s new EG9900 is a 77 inch 4K TV. This sounds great and all, but what makes it so special? The TV bends at the consumers will. It includes a remote control which allows you to decide whether you want to the TV completely flat or adjust the degree of the bend in the TV.
A curved TV allows for a better experience when watching movies with just one or two people; whereas if you were to have many people over, the flattened option would be best. This new customization could be a game changer in the TV industry.
