Imagine a lonely, shy, girl whose existence consists of class, homework, eating, and video games.
It’s a sad, sad, picture, and it would have been my reality without Vector. I know, this sounds like the start of a cheesy, soppy rom-com, but all too often I’m finding that tropes exist for a reason. Vectoids, you are the reason I am (somewhat) confident and able to hold conversations, am not completely terrified of university administrators, work out, stay sane, and have a decent sized group of people I can actually call friends.
To Steve:
The paper depends on you each week to produce a cohesive, high quality product that upholds our commitment to delivering NJIT news. To do this job properly takes time, energy, resourcefulness, tact, intelligence, wit, tough skin, daring, confidence, and stress management, just to name a few. It’s hard work, and to be honest, there have been times where I’ve had it up to here and felt like giving it all up. But at the end of the day, it’s worth it. Hang in there, and don’t try to write everything yourself. Your most important task: make people obey deadlines. If you can enforce this early on, you will thank yourself (and me for telling you to) forever.
You will become a beautiful butterfly in due time, young caterpillar.
To Vector staff:
Notwithstanding chasing you down for late content, I could not have asked for a better motley crew to work alongside. I’ve had the pleasure of watching you grow and learn as we bonded over conversation or LoL games. You are a bunch of quirky, adorable, normal (thank goodness) and dedicated individuals who make each visit to the Vector office and each hour of Vector work bring a smile to my face. Keep striving to be the best you that you can be.
To Bob and Miriam:
Thanks for all the support and for believing in us!
To Vector Executive Board 2013-2014:
Jed, we did it! Capstone, Vector, school, it’s all coming to an end soon – thanks for being here for the ride.
Leonard, your editorial made me feel things. You are strong and a very nice human being. Keep being you.
Hari, your dedication and hard work are impressive and inspiring.
Amy, you are 100% sass and 200% adorable. Your admiration of my body is much appreciated.
To Vector Executive Board 2014-2015:
Leonard, have fun being responsible for everyone.
Lou, please write horoscopes again.
Dani, make us rich.
Amy, make us pretty.
Steve, make us literate.
As much as this ride has been worth the while, I am running far away to Seattle, where I hopefully will not be involved in journalism for a long time.
It’s all on you now, next generation of Vectoids. Go forth and make us the pride of NJIT.
